Wesley's first letter (June 25, 2011)

Sorry this can't be any longer but they only give us 30 minutes to use the computers haha. Don't worry your baby boy is doing well and I am actually enjoying myself. My first written letter would have gotten to you by now but I forgot to put a stamp on it so I had to resend it. There is such a strong incomprehensible spirit about this place, I can't put it into words. I feel that most of the time I forget about the things that kept me happy before because I have found a more peaceful joy with constant study and reflection on the scriptures.

Just 30 minutes ago I was hanging with my district and cracking jokes and Elder Oaks walked by and said, "good morning elders" needless to say I nerded out. Besides the spiritual aspects I'm still having a lot of fun. My companion is a buff football star from West Haven, Utah. He's pretty sweet, he's not a big talker but I feel whatever he says is meaningful or funny. The MTC must have planned for us going to the Yucatan because we got assigned to the only room with no air conditioning, it's about 20 degrees hotter than every other room, but some other elders were kind enough to donate their fans to the cause so now it's almost bearable haha.
When I was blessed with the gift of tongues I feel it really worked because I'm picking up the language extremely fast and most of the other elders who have more experience with Spanish are actually turning to me for help with it, I still have a lot to learn though.
I still have 9 minutes left so I'm trying to think of what to fill it with haha. I feel I have covered most of it. Haha, sorry, love you all and I'm so happy to be here!

Your baby missionary,

Elder Esmit

Until we meet again...

Here are a few pictures from the last few days before Wesley entered the Missionary Training Center (MTC).
